Yet again; Beautiful Denmark!

For those of you who read our blog, it’ll not come as a surprise when it comes to our summervacation destination. Yes, yet again; Beautiful Denmark.
We asked Yoram where he wanted to go this year, and he wanted to go to the same place as last year. We didn’t have a problem with that at all!
I’d been checking out the weather forecast and it said it was going to rain the whole week we’d be there. So I packed jeans, longsleeves, sweaters, raincoates and 1 (just 1!) pair of shorts for the kids. You’ll never believe it; it has been the most sunny and warm week we’ve ever had in Denmark! We went to the beach twice, same with the pool, visited some cities and one museum on the one rainy morning we had (which made me glad, ’cause now the could finally wear the jeans and longsleeves I packed!).

We went to Borsmoso, a beach where you can drive your car on to the beach and sit, play, tan next to it. (Oh, by the way, we drove to Denmark in our new ‘European Compact’ car (what’s that movie called, with those newly-weds honeymooning in Europe and every single time get stuck with a ‘European Compact’ rental car, which hardly can hold their luggage? It was hilarious, but ok, getting back to Denmark now…). So that white car in the picture is our new Hyundai i10.

We went to Esbjerg to see the ‘Mennesket ved Havet’ – Men at Sea. It’s a sculpture of four men overlooking the North Sea and they’re huge!

On our rainy day we went to Museet Danmarks Brandbiller (Firetruck museum). It also had an exhibition on army trucks.

We also had fun playing around the house. Hide and go seek, playing on the swings…

Yoram went fishing and caught 4(!) fishies in about an hour :-) And they also bought vikings-hats so that they can show off they’re tough dudes!

We had a wonderful time and hopefully we’ll get to go to Denmark again very soon!

Winterswijk

JM has been checking out this hotel-auction website lately. He got really good deals (read cheap) on hotelrooms. So we took Yoram (Yair stayed at oma’s for a night) to a hotel in Winterswijk. A very nice hotel (swimmingpool, soccertable, bowling etc.) and we only paid €20.- a night, including breakfast buffet for the 3 of us. Not bad at all! We did have to pay a little extra for Yoram’s bed and a bowling lane, but Yoram had a great time. One night was too short!

Yoram in desperate need of some Cars 2…

When we moved into this house 3 years ago, we didn’t do any decorating in Yoram’s room. The paint on the walls and the carpet floor looked as new, so we decided not to change that and just put up some nice curtains and put in his furniture.
But by now, Yoram was in desperate need of something personalized. And by that, he meant just a little bit of Cars 2 in his room…
With the help of Corine (a girl from our church youthgroup, who’s beautiful inside and out), we gave Yoram his Cars 2 room.

Lots of pics

Since my cell-phone takes pretty good pictures (if the light outside is ok), I tend to take a lot of pictures which never make it to the blog. So here are some pics, mostly of the kids making funny faces :-)

Zeehondencrèche Pieterburen

This past Sunday we went to the Zeehondencrèche Pieterburen. It’s a carecenter where volunteers take in seals that are sick and take care of them untill they’re well enough to go back to sea. Yoram and Yair liked it a lot!

Yair can ride ‘his’ tricycle

We were wondering why Yair still couldn’t ride his (well actually, Yoram’s old tricycle). About a week ago, he wanted to go to the playground on the tricycle, but we didn’t let him go, because he still ‘walks’ on it instead of peddeling. Boy, was he mad! He wanted to go on his tricycle.
A couple of days later he was playing outside and after a while he called us to show us he was able to ride it! We’re so proud of him (and so is he!).

Yoram’s a pirate!

Today Yoram had a double birthday-party of his friends Marc and Rutger. They had a pirate-theme, so Yoram is dressed up as a pirate. All of the sudden Yair wasn’t his friend anymore (‘No, go away!!!’), but I pretty-please asked him for a picture of the both of them. Of course Yair had to give a funny face…

Yoram circus-material?

Yoram had a fieldtrip with his gymnastics-class. They went to a youth-circus and had a workshop. We came to the conclusion that Yoram is not really circus-material, but he had a lot of fun!

Yoram turns 5!

A little belated, but here are some pictures of Yoram’s birthday.
The evening before we made a treat for his class and Yoram loved helping (and tasting to see if they were ‘ok’…). On the morning of his birthday he unwrapped his presents. He wanted a radio/cd-player, so that’s what he got!
He also threw a party for his friends – we had 6 boys (7 including Yoram) and 2 girls over at our house. We decorated an egg-cake/cookie, played some games and ate ‘poffertjes’ (small pancakes). It was so much fun and Yoram was super-excited to see all the presents :-) (The 1st 4 pictures are taken with my cell-phone, the quality isn’t too great…)
The next day we had family over, which meant more cake and more presents!
